This position will be responsible for developing silicon photonics components, and photonic integrated circuits (PIC's) to support next-generation data communications and 5G optical network applications. The responsibility spans from concept design, modeling & simulation to layout, and product testing. The candidate is expected to be responsible for product level layout and improve the efficiency of tape-out process by implementing LVS and advanced error detection mechanism using Calibre nmDRC deck.
The position could be a junior, senior, or principal role depending on candidate’s qualification.
The scope of the responsibilities includes:
Passive or active photonic device design, simulation, and layout using state-of-the-art modelling and layout tools
Interaction with the silicon foundry
Device and PIC test/characterization
Qualifications and Skills
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a focus on Integrated Photonics, complemented by at least 2 years of direct experience in the design of Silicon Photonics devices.
Skilled in programming for data analysis and layout design.
Practical experience in tape-out process with at least one Silicon Photonics foundry, including familiarity with its PDK.
Proficiency in passive optical components, such as edge couplers, grating couplers, directional couplers, MMIs, and polarization splitters and rotators.
Hands-on experience with photonic testing equipment in a laboratory setting.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills and a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

This position will be responsible for managing the Silicon Photonics foundry suppliers and working with transceiver development teams to enable successful product integration.
The position could be a senior (or junior) role depending on the candidate’s qualifications.
The responsibilities for this position include:
Engage with foundry services to enable wafer runs
Procure foundry PDK and other process information, and work as an internal consultant to optical transceiver development teams
Design in-house electrical and photonic test patterns to monitor the foundry process variations, supplementing foundry Process Control Modules
Use statistical tools to analyze the wafer PCM data, identify process/design weakness, monitor and improve the process
Drive different product line integration, using statistical tools to analyze product data, and streamline large-volume product shipment
Monitor and drive foundry process development to contribute to next generation products, and enhance existing product performance
Qualifications and Skills:
Master's in electrical engineering, Physics or related fields with 5+ years of industrial experience in semiconductor processing and advanced packaging
Experience in Silicon foundries as process integration or module engineers, or being a foundry interface person of a fabless company is desired
Experience with silicon photonics design implementation or have an educational background in integrated photonics or semiconductor physics is a plus.
Solid statistical analysis capability, practical experience with analysis software or analysis coding is strongly desired
Analytical skill, programming fluency in Python, Matlab, or any other commonly used software tools

This position will be responsible for developing compact packaging solutions that integrate high-speed electronic ICs and silicon photonic chips to support next-generation communications in data center networks and AI/ML clusters. The responsibility spans from concept design, modeling, simulation, to manufacturing with external vendors, and prototype testing. The candidate is expected to innovate in the high-speed packaging domain and bring it from concept all the way to production.
This position could be a junior, senior, or principal role depending on the candidate’s qualification.
The scope of the responsibilities includes:
· Design photonic packaging to work at high data rate (100Gb/s and beyond) with excellent performance.
· Perform various simulations, including thermal, stress, microwave, and optical beam simulations.
· Work with external vendors for prototype manufacturing.
· Perform thermal, mechanical, high-speed RF, and optical testing.
Qualifications and Skills
· Master or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material, Mechanics, or other related field, complemented by at least 2 years of direct experience in the development of high-speed photonic packaging.
· Skilled in 3D mechanical drawing, thermal and stress simulations, and lens optical beam simulations. Familiar with the related software.
· Extensive knowledge and experience in various substrate material, epoxy chemistry, solder balls, copper pillar, flip-chip bonding, TSVs, underfill, flex circuits, wire and ribbon bonding, PCB material and fabrication, fiber array alignment, TEC, and various lenses.
· Some high-speed RF knowledge and design experience is highly desirable.
· Some knowledge in Si photonic devices and circuits, pluggable and co-packaged optical transceivers is desirable.
· Hands-on experience with testing setups and equipment in a laboratory setting.
· Hands-on experience in qualification and reliability testing.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Strong communication skills and a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

At least one of the following 2 skill set/experience
Experience with test instrumentation and automation, hand's on in the lab
Experience with Python (or C , C#, and LabView) or other programming languages for instrumentation control; Matlab for data analysis
PIC modeling
